Be cautious about taking photographs and videos of individuals. A lawful reason, as well as explicit consent, is required for this. Consent must be freely given, informative, specific, and capable of being withdrawn at any time.
-
If getting consent isn't possible, photographs or videos may be taken and published on the basis of legitimate interest. In this case, please consult with our Data Protection Champion for advice.
-
Regardless of the situation, remember to:
- Inform individuals that photographs and videos will be taken
- Designate and communicate areas where no photography or videography is allowed
- Avoid taking photographs or videos of underage individuals
-
If you receive a prospect's contact details, such as a business card, at an event, avoid placing them into an automated email sequence. Instead, follow up with a personal email and explain why you're contacting them.
-
Without explicit prior consent, you'll need to rely on Legitimate Interest. Placing a prospect directly into automated marketing just because you've received their business card can be questionable.
-
If you do have their consent or can justify legitimate interest, and you send a direct marketing campaign, always include an unsubscribe link.
